Digital Innovation Journey Maps

What makes a digital product launch succeed or fail? Visualizing the story of the good, bad and ugly moments that go into digital product journeys.

Highland Solutions, a Chicago-based firm, researches, designs and builds digital products. To understand the digital product landscape more deeply, they embarked on a research project that asked the question “Why are some digital product launches successful, and some not?” To get their answers, they interviewed product managers who had overseen the launch of either a successful or unsuccessful product within the previous year.

These findings would be presented at a webinar, and visualizations of both successful and unsuccessful journeys would be shared as PDFs for all attendees.

To help them tell this story, I reviewed their preliminary findings, and through working with their team, gained an understanding of the story they wanted to tell—what we needed to include, and where the high and low points were.

From there, I designed journey map layouts that highlighted the key actions, thoughts, emotions and factors that went into both successful and unsuccessful digital product journeys.

…and relatively poorly.

…and relatively poorly.

This webinar was successful, and sparked conversation from their audience about how to avoid difficult digital journeys, and how Highland Solutions can help.
